A crowning achievement by Russian composer Rachmaninov, Symphonic Dances is at once exciting, colourful and macabre musical masterpiece. An orchestral suite in three movements, it is Rachmaninov’s final composition evoking his talent for shifting harmonies and rhythmic vitality.
Also on the programme: a world premiere of a composition by Gregory Mulyk and excerpts from Mozart's Magic Flute featuring the brightest talent from the U of A's Voice and Opera Area, performed in a concert staging.
